Terms and FAQ’s
How do you choose what style to do?
Most people provide a few images for inspiration. This shows us what looks they like, to give us some ideas and then we can either recreate a specific look exactly or we can take those as inspiration to tailor a look unique for you.
Should I have a trial?
That’s a very individual decision. Trials are useful if you feel apprehensive about what look to go for, or to put your mind at ease if you’re someone who prefers everything thoroughly planned. Alternatively, we’ll always chat on the day anyway so you’ll have time to guide us and design your look before we start.
How much is a blow-wave?
We have a flat-fee arrangement on almost all hairstyles. A beautiful short hair look (one which makes mum feel amazing) often takes as much time and care as any down style. There is one exception – if your mum or someone in your group has hair above the jaw-line (in the category of ‘not much you can do, but I still want a professionals touch’) then you could either just book her for a makeup-only or we can offer a reduced rate of $55 for a chin-length blowwave. Shoulder length curls, and mid or long hair blow-waves are however generally styled using a range of techniques and tools (for lasting bounce and volume) and therefore equivalent in time, technique and price to any medium to long hair look.
What products do you use?
We’re not brand bias, so each of our makeup and hair kits are put together with years on knowledge and experience. Each stylist has their own preferred products and you’ll find brands such as NARS, Gorgeous, MAC, Makeup Forever, BeneFIT, Laura Mercier, Jane Iredel. Our team prefer to apply foundation with a traditional sponge method which allows us to build gradually and give you a natural yet flawless finish.
Who will be my stylist?
We have a small team headed by Vanessa, all stylists are specially selected and are highly trained and experienced. At Miss Nessi we have high standards so you can be confident in knowing your stylist will be creative, professional and friendly to work with.
Will it last all night?
Most definitely! We wouldn’t do anything less. Your stylist will use skin prepping and setting products and all the makeup products we use are the best of the best, up to the challenge of Queensland humidity. Just to prove it, here are a couple of recent emails we received from brides the day after their weddings
- “Thank you so much for yesterday, it was perfect and the hair and makeup held beautifully even in the rain! Here are a couple of photos :-)” Luci Knight
- “Hi Vanessa! I just wanted to send a huge thank you for your amazing hair and make-up job on Saturday. You wouldn’t believe the compliments we all received! Not only that but it was the hottest, stickiest, most humid day and we had no air conditioning in either the church or reception, but you had done such an amazing job that it didn’t matter! The make -up didn’t budge! … xxxx Kind regards, Kath ( and David)!” Katherine Sherman
What if I don’t know how many people are having hair and makeup?
We can only hold a timeslot for the number of people that you can lock in. If some of your friends and family later decide they’d like to join in we’d be happy to accommodate any extras provided there is time before or after your appointment to extend the time slot.
Can you change the start and finish times after booking?
As above, we’ll always do what we can to accommodate your changes but it just isn’t something we can guarantee. There’s always a small chance that time slots before or after your booking will be booked for other appointments.
How do I pay?
Cash or internet transfer. We can provide an option to pay by credit card at an additional processing 1.9% fee.
